Some Progress

The last of the ten steps to the spreader are now firmly attached and provide ready safe access when looking out for reefs.  I will now add an extra safety line.

Meanwhile it has taken 4 days of consultations with Alfie, the local battery expert, to determine what Intention requires for her electrical system.  None of that work can be done before I have to leave but Jim was persuaded by both Alfie and myself to install a car battery to use as an isolated engine starter.  I put that in yesterday and re-wired both the inverter and the bilge pumps to keep the starter battery isolated.

We are now to be looking closely at the 4 remaining house batteries - all 12 to 14 years old, for signs of over heating or not keeping a charge.

Great musical social evening at "Decked Out" with the local boaters and residents.  Jim, Lynda and I arrived in a fire truck, all because Lynda was bold enough to walk up to the three firemen sitting in their truck outside the fire station and ask for a ride to town.  We pulled up to the friends we were to meet and the chief blew his siren.  Quite an international set with Don singing "backup harmonies" to the Dutch guitarist, New Zealand keyboard and English sax player.  Great fun.

Took this morning off to visit the town, post a few cards and found this internet cafe to send messages home.  Thanks for all your notes.  Sorry, I cannot seem to post photos.

  1. I am so glad you are having some good fun and that Intention is becoming travel worthy. Hopefully your next blog entry will tell us that you are finally setting sail for your real holiday :)
