Repairs Continue

At the dock in Savusavu.  Spent yesterday cleaning out the head and repairing the stove and washdown pump as Jim examined the oil leak.  He tried to pump out the bilge into the sea but I stopped him and sent him to borrow an extractor pump.
Repairs to boat will depend on what he is willing to spend.  New batteries for a start.
Also discovered that manual bilge pump broken due to corrosion adding it to the long list of reasons why this boat is not ready to cruise.
Lynda and I will give this another week and include some touring about the island while we hunt for batteries.  If after the week, the boat is still not seaworthy, we will examine our options.

  1. Sounds like a good plan. I hope Jim does not have the audacity to be charging you the daily rate while you are spending all of your time making his boat seaworthy. Is there a place on crew.com where you can rate your experience? All you are missing here are rising gas prices, election scandals and a teacher's strike :(

  2. Again, I second Katie's comments. I gotta' jump on this faster. :-) Looking for work interferes with life.
Here as everywhere else it is Leap Year. A cruel joke in an election year, one more day of mud slinging, and it's just getting started; can hardly wait for Nov 7th.
Mum called last night to warn me not to book a visit as they are in 'lock down' due to flu bug. Mum is not sick, but visits are curtailed until further notice, she will let me know when. Cheers. and I hope the adventure becomes less and adventure and more a holiday. Love, Dave
